Anambra 2025: APC Aspirant Obiora Okonkwo Vows To Unseat Soludo
Businessman and Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, has formally announced his candidacy for the November 8, 2025, Anambra State Governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC)…READ MORE…
Speaking at the inauguration of his provisional campaign council at his country home in Ire Village, Ogidi, Idemili North LGA, Okonkwo declared his mission to succeed the incumbent governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, with a vision to transform Anambra into a model of excellence and effective governance.
Addressing a crowd of supporters, party members, and grassroots mobilizers, he outlined his plans to tackle insecurity, unemployment, and economic stagnation, which he believes have hindered the state’s potential.
Okonkwo pledged to strengthen community policing and modern security frameworks, create a business-friendly environment to attract investments, and empower entrepreneurs to generate employment. He also emphasized the need to revamp the education sector and empower youth through “Nkwado Ogalanya (Igba Boi),” a vocational and entrepreneurial training initiative.
“My agenda includes infrastructure renewal, improved healthcare services, and the modernization of agriculture to enhance food security and economic prosperity,” he stated.
Dismissing claims that he is a newcomer to the APC, Okonkwo asserted that he has been a dedicated member since the days of the Action Congress and Action Congress of Nigeria, which later merged to form the APC. He reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the party and its vision.
He also downplayed the role of zoning in Anambra politics, insisting that competence should take precedence over regional considerations.
“Anambra is at a critical juncture, and now, more than ever, we must prioritize competence over zoning. We need a leader who can rescue and rebuild our state,” he said.
Describing his candidacy as more than just a political campaign but a movement to reclaim Anambra’s greatness, Okonkwo called on the people to rally behind him, promising that together, they would make Anambra a beacon of excellence and good governance.
