APC New Media Directorate Urges Nigerian Youths To Shun Proposed Protest
Benin City, July 31, 2024 — The All Progressives Congress (APC) New Media Directorate, led by Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah, has issued a passionate appeal to Nigerian youths and the general public to abstain from participating in the protest scheduled to begin on August 1st, 2024. The Directorate emphasizes the potential dangers of such protests if they are hijacked by destructive elements, drawing parallels with the #EndSARS protests that, despite their noble beginnings, led to significant destruction and economic damage.
Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah highlighted that President Bola Tinubu has been proactive in addressing the nation’s economic challenges. In response to the rising global inflation and economic recession, the Federal Government has rolled out several measures aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by Nigerians. These include:
– Distribution of essential items to those in need.
– Increase in workers’ salaries to help manage the cost of living.
– Commencement of the disbursement of student loans to ensure education remains accessible.
– Completion of previously abandoned projects across the country, thereby generating employment and boosting economic activity.
– Suspension of duties, tariffs, and taxes on certain food commodities imported through land and sea borders to stabilize food prices.
These initiatives are designed to provide both immediate relief and long-term benefits to Nigerians. The APC New Media Directorate urges the youth and all citizens to acknowledge these efforts and engage with the government through constructive and peaceful means rather than through potentially destructive protests.
The Directorate believes in the power of dialogue and constructive criticism and calls on all Nigerian youths to work together towards building a stronger and more resilient nation. The appeal is for a united front in overcoming current challenges and avoiding the mistakes of the past.
In conclusion, Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah appeals to the good conscience of all Nigerians to reject the proposed faceless protest. He encourages everyone to focus on collaborative efforts for a prosperous future, assuring that the government is listening and committed to addressing the populace’s concerns.
