Lukman pointed out that the current leadership structure of the APC sidelines the North Central zone, thereby necessitating corrective measures. He suggested that to rectify this constitutional anomaly, the position of Deputy Senate President, currently held by Senator Barau Jubrin from Kano in the North West region, should be transferred to a representative from the North Central zone.

Expressing his views in a letter dated April 2, 2024, addressed to the national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje, Lukman emphasized the need for the APC to uphold constitutional principles in its leadership appointments. He stressed the importance of maintaining a fair and equitable distribution of leadership roles across all regions within the party.

Lukman urged President Bola Tinubu and other leaders of the APC to take proactive steps to address what he described as an abnormality in the party’s leadership structure. He reiterated his opposition to Ganduje’s appointment as national chairman and called for decisive action to remedy the situation.

In his letter, Lukman underscored the significance of restoring constitutional order within the APC to ensure that the party remains true to its founding principles of progressivism. He emphasized the need for inclusive leadership that reflects the diversity of the party’s membership and promotes fairness and justice.
