Speaking at a rally in Nnewi, Anambra State, on Saturday, March 23, Ganduje emphasized that South-East’s path to political empowerment lies in aligning with the ruling party.

Reflecting on historical events, Ganduje recalled the tenure of former Vice President Alex Ekwueme during the administration of Shehu Shagari. He noted that Shagari had considered Ekwueme as his potential successor, highlighting the significance of South-East’s commitment to the ruling party during that era.

Ganduje stated, “You know when your brother, Alex Ekwueme was the vice president to our brother, Shehu Shagari. The body language was there, and if not that the military struck, your son, Alex Ekwueme would have become the president.”

He emphasized that aligning with the ruling party is pivotal for political freedom, asserting that it would mitigate marginalization in the region.
