ASUU Demands Action: Government-Urged To Fulfill-IPPIS Removal-Promise (Details)

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has intensified its call on the Federal Government to fulfill its commitment of removing its members from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS). Dr. Joshua Silas, Chairman of ASUU at Federal University, Lokoja, expressed these concerns during a protest held at the FUL campus in Felele, Lokoja, on Tuesday.

Following the protest, Dr. Silas addressed reporters, emphasizing ASUU’s nationwide solidarity in demanding prompt government action to meet their long-standing grievances.

“We are conducting these protests across the country as directed by the national body of ASUU, to urge the federal government to promptly fulfill our demands,” stated Dr. Silas. He highlighted the government’s failure to implement the 2009 renegotiation agreements with ASUU, despite promises made.

“We suspended our last strike in October 2022, expecting the government to resolve all outstanding issues. However, from 2009 to 2024, nothing substantial has been done,” Dr. Silas continued. He underscored the union’s patience with the government and emphasized the urgency of resolving these issues to prevent further industrial actions.

“We urge the government to take action, as ASUU cannot be held responsible for any future disruptions,” Dr. Silas concluded, expressing ASUU’s firm stance on the matter.
