Bloody Civilian Says Not Using TikTok Early Is Biggest Career Regret
Nigerian singer and producer, Emoseh Khamofu, popularly known as Bloody Civilian, has disclosed her biggest regret since launching her music career.
The multi-talented artist revealed she regrets not embracing TikTok earlier, blaming her hesitation on being “too cool” to engage with the viral video platform when it first emerged as a powerful tool for music promotion.
Taking to her X page, Bloody Civilian wrote:
“My biggest regret was being too cool for TikTok at the beginning of my career. God punish steeze.”
In recent years, TikTok has revolutionized digital music promotion globally, including in Nigeria. A notable example is CKay’s 2019 track, Love Nwantiti, which saw a massive resurgence in 2021 when TikTok creators began using it for dance challenges. This viral wave dramatically boosted the song’s streams across platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube.
Similarly, Nigerian star Skales recently experienced renewed success with his 2015 hit, Shake Body, after Barcelona footballer Lamine Yamal’s TikTok dance to the song reignited interest, pushing it back onto streaming charts.
Emerging talent Chella has also leveraged TikTok effectively, with songs like My Darling, Nyash Na Nyash, and Iweriwe Love amassing millions of views and expanding his fanbase.
Bloody Civilian’s reflection underscores the growing significance of social media platforms, especially TikTok, in shaping music careers and driving global reach for Nigerian artists.
