Bode George Cautions Political Stakeholders Against a Grave Mistake in Coalition Plans

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has cautioned against the formation of a coalition among opposition parties, stating that internal party crises should not lead to the collapse of established structures………..READ MORE

George criticized plans by certain politicians to establish a mega party ahead of the 2027 general elections, arguing that their primary motivation is personal ambition rather than national interest.

Reports indicate that former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who recently defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has invited opposition figures, including Labour Party’s Peter Obi and PDP’s Atiku Abubakar, to join him in forming a new political alliance.

Speaking on Arise Television, George described the move as a “monumental mistake,” emphasizing that no political party or nation is free from internal challenges.

“All those pushing for a mega party—are any of them not personally ambitious to become Nigeria’s president? Is this the real solution to the country’s problems?” George questioned.

He blamed the PDP’s internal conflicts on unresolved disputes from the party’s national convention, adding that figures like Nyesom Wike had exacerbated divisions.

George also warned President Bola Tinubu to tread carefully regarding discussions about declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State. Additionally, he urged Rivers residents to avoid violence and actions that could worsen tensions in the state.
