It specifically targets the most economically disadvantaged, ensuring they have the means to continue their education.
In addition to increasing girls’ enrollment, the AGILE program will also focus on maintaining and improving the quality of education. This will involve motivating and equipping teachers to provide quality instruction.
The AGILE program consists of three key components. The first centers on establishing safe and accessible learning environments. This includes creating new spaces for learning, enhancing existing infrastructure, and hiring more teachers.
The second component focuses on creating an enabling environment for girls, which involves behavior change campaigns, engagement with traditional leaders, and advocacy efforts. It also emphasizes providing girls with essential life skills, knowledge for navigating adulthood, and digital literacy.
The third component involves strengthening the education system and project management. This includes active involvement of the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) team, technical experts, and community members through the School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs).
AGILE, supported by the World Bank and the Federal Ministry of Education, is designed to enhance secondary education opportunities for adolescent girls aged between 10 and 20.
