BREAKING: Mbah Reacts To Tribunal Ruling That Upheld His Election
Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah expressed his satisfaction with the tribunal’s decision that affirmed his election victory in March, deeming it a triumph for democracy.
The Enugu State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, under the leadership of Justice Kudirat Murayo Akano, dismissed all the arguments presented in the petition filed by the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Chijioke Edeogu, contesting Mbah’s victory in the election.

The tribunal clarified that the possession of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate is not a prerequisite for running for the governor’s office. They further pointed out that the NYSC certificate was not attached to the documents submitted by the governor to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Following the tribunal’s ruling, Governor Mbah expressed his contentment, emphasizing that the judgment was a triumph for the people of Enugu State.
“It is a victory for Ndi Enugu. It is also a victory for democracy,” the governor said. “It is a victory for massive development for Ndi Enugu. It is a victory for exponential growth, it is a victory for Enugu’s greatness.”
Enugu, situated in the South-East region, has been steadfast in adhering to the weekly sit-at-home directive on Mondays, even in the face of concerted attempts by regional governors to mitigate its effects.
During his address to the assembly, the governor emphasized his administration’s persistent endeavors to revoke this directive.
He also highlighted that the recent tribunal ruling affirming his electoral triumph in March serves as an endorsement of the state government’s stance against the order. Additionally, Governor Mbah assured the public of his government’s commitment to resolving the water issue within the state.
“It is a victory for the ban on Monday’s sit-at-home. Finally, it is a victory for our determination to restore water in all your homes in the next 68 days.
“We are thankful to God because we know it would not have been possible without God. We also want to put on record our deep appreciation to their Lordships for painstakingly dissecting the petitions brought before them and also coming out with a judgement that resonates with the people of Enugu State,” he added.
