Adesina Reveals What He Earned As Buhari’s Spokesman
Femi Adesina, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, stated that he received a lower salary as an appointee compared to his previous position.
Speaking at the NUJ Press Centre in Osogbo, Osun State, during a Media dialogue program organized by the Association of Veteran Journalists, Adesina emphasized that managing Buhari was straightforward because the president was dedicated to telling Nigerians the truth.

He challenged anyone to provide evidence of a lie he told during Buhari’s eight-year administration.
Adesina said, “Buhari is as straight as an arrow, he doesn’t lie, that made it very easy to sell him.”
He also shared a personal anecdote about his salary, revealing that he was paid one-third of what he earned as the Managing Director of The Sun Newspaper during his eight years of service under Buhari. Adesina even turned down a generous offer from The Sun’s publisher to supplement his earnings.
He emphasized that his decision was based on a commitment to serve and a sense of duty.
Adesina further highlighted Buhari’s anti-corruption stance, noting a significant increase in convictions for corrupt practices between 2015 and 2023 compared to the preceding years.
