Tinubu emphasized the importance of involving all governors, including those from the opposition, in the school-feeding initiative.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu stressed the need for policies that prioritize all Nigerians, transcending political affiliations and always considering the national interest.
The statement, titled ‘President Tinubu to APC Governors: Let us work for the good of all Nigerians,’ highlighted the imperative for collective efforts towards national development.
Tinubu’s appeal coincided with the suspension of all administered Social Investment Programmes by the National Social Investment Programme Agency, including the school-feeding program.
The suspension, lasting six weeks initially, was attributed to an ongoing investigation into alleged malfeasance in the agency’s management and programs.
The President emphasized the importance of inclusivity, ownership, and sustainability in development policies. He underscored the need for the governing party to foster healing and unity in the country by promoting a collective national vision and directing resources towards nation-building.
President Tinubu expressed optimism about Nigeria’s abundant human, natural, and material resources, stating that the financial system would be re-engineered for inclusivity, effectiveness, and efficiency.
He urged governors to formulate a comprehensive framework for the school-feeding program, considering the unique characteristics of each locality and striving to ensure all children attend school.
Highlighting the economic benefits, Tinubu noted that the program would boost agricultural investments, particularly in livestock farming and dairy.
He referred to a proposal presented by the Committee on Livestock Reforms, emphasizing the need for modernizing livestock production to address herders-farmers clashes.
President Tinubu also discussed plans for strengthening security, including the deployment of forest guards with advanced training and technology, as well as securing the solid mineral and marine economic sectors with specialized police.
Tinubu expressed readiness to invest in security measures, particularly in gold reserves to bolster the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
