BREAKING: Tragic News As Gowon Is Confirmed Dead

Former Vice-Chancellor of Niger Delta University and immediate past Chairman of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNUs), Emeritus Prof. Samuel Gowon Edoumiekumor, has passed away at the age of 53.

He died in Lagos due to complications related to lung cancer.

Prof. Edoumiekumor, a distinguished scholar in economics and social sciences, served as the fourth substantive VC of Niger Delta University and held numerous academic and administrative positions during his career.

He was a recipient of multiple awards and a Fellow of several professional bodies, including the Historians of Education Development Society of Nigeria (HOEDSON), the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria (FIEN), and others.

The General Secretary of CVCNUs, Prof. Yakubu Ochefu, expressed deep sorrow at his passing and emphasized the profound loss his death represents. Prof. Edoumiekumor’s contributions to education and academia will be greatly missed.
