Nollywood has lost one of its seasoned actors, Dejumo Lewis, who passed away at the age of 80.

The confirmation of his demise came from actor Saidi Balogun, who shared the sad news on his Instagram account on Saturday. Alongside a photo of the late veteran actor, Saidi wrote, “Good night DEJUMO LEWIS, may your soul rest in perfect peace. RIP.”

While the specific circumstances surrounding Lewis’ passing remain undisclosed, Saidi Balogun’s tribute has prompted an outpouring of condolences from fans and fellow actors.

Dejumo Lewis, renowned for his role as Kabiyesi in The Village Headmaster, Nigeria’s longest-running television soap opera that aired on NTA from 1968 to 1988, starred alongside Justus Esiri, Femi Robinson, and others. Lewis also left a lasting impact with his memorable performances in acclaimed films such as “A Place in the Stars” (2014), “Crossroads” (2020), and “Power of 1” (2018).
