Phillips completed his registration on Tuesday at Ward 7, Ijaye in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, marking his shift to the major opposition party in the state soon after the last election.
In his statement to the press, Phillips expressed his belief that the PDP is positioned to lead Ogun State and Nigeria effectively by 2027. He criticized the current leadership for implementing policies that he believes are causing unnecessary hardship and impoverishing Nigerians.

Phillips reflected on the recent governorship election in Ogun State, stating, “We all witnessed what happened in Ogun State during the last governorship election. We knew who truly won the mandate of the people but sadly it has ended the way it did.” He expressed confidence that future elections would yield different outcomes, with the PDP emerging victorious.
Additionally, Phillips called on Nigerian youths to increase their political engagement, emphasizing the importance of not leaving the political arena to what he termed “charlatans.” He urged the youth to take an active role in shaping the political landscape of the country.
