In a surprising turn of events during the Africa qualifying series for the 2024 World Cup, Rwanda caused a major upset by defeating South Africa 2-0 on Thursday.

With Nigeria securing only two points from their initial two games in Group C of the qualifiers, concerns arose about the possibility of missing out on the World Cup for the second consecutive time.

Before that, the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is set to take place in Cote d’Ivoire early next year.
