Chelsea Star Jorgensen Heads For Loan As Arsenal Chase Guimaraes

According to Ireporter Online, the 24-year-old goalkeeper gave approval for the move after Strasbourg manager Hugo Oliveira identified him as the preferred replacement following Mike Penders’ return to Chelsea after completing his own loan spell.

Jorgensen is reportedly seeking regular playing time after struggling to secure a consistent role at Stamford Bridge, where Robert Sanchez remains the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. The Danish shot-stopper featured during the early stages of Chelsea’s pre-season preparations before returning to London to finalise his next move.

The transfer further highlights the growing connection between Chelsea and Strasbourg, who are both linked through the BlueCo ownership group. However, any player movement between the two clubs still requires approval from all parties involved.

Strasbourg have already strengthened their squad with the loan signing of Chelsea academy defender Genesis Antwi, while previous deals between both clubs have included the transfers of players such as Valentin Barco, Emmanuel Emegha and Mamadou Sarr.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder and captain Bruno Guimaraes, with direct negotiations now underway between the two Premier League clubs.

The Gunners previously submitted a £70 million offer for the Brazil international, but Newcastle rejected the proposal as they continue to demand a higher valuation. Despite the initial setback, Arsenal are expected to return with an improved bid as manager Mikel Arteta looks to add more quality and competition to his squad.

Guimaraes is believed to be interested in a move to Arsenal, and talks between both clubs are reportedly progressing. The midfielder recently joined Newcastle’s pre-season preparations in Spain following his extended break after international commitments.

Although Arteta avoided making direct comments about Guimaraes, the Arsenal boss confirmed that the club remains active in the transfer market and is determined to strengthen the squad ahead of another title challenge.

“We’re very active and very ambitious in what we want to do,” Arteta said, adding that the club wants to improve internal competition and address areas where reinforcements are needed.
