Crucial-Meeting Between Emir Of Kano And Security Chiefs Unveils Tensions Amid Royal Turmoil (Video)
Details of a significant meeting between the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, and top security chiefs have emerged amidst the ongoing royal power struggle in Kano State. The meeting, held on Saturday, took place against the backdrop of heightened tension following recent developments in the state….CONTINUE READING
According to reports from Ireporteronline, the meeting occurred as a response to the repeal of the Kano Emirates Council law by the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP)-controlled Kano House of Assembly, the same law used by ex-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to dethrone Sanusi. Governor Abba Yusuf assented to the law, subsequently ordering affected emirs to vacate their palaces within 48 hours.
While four emirs complied with the directive, Ado Bayero returned to Kano and moved into the Nasarawa palace under heavy military protection. This move incited further tensions, leading Governor Yusuf to order Bayero’s arrest, although the police indicated reluctance to comply, thereby preventing the Kano State government from reinstating Sanusi.
Speaking to Daily Trust, a source revealed insights from the meeting held at the Gidan Rumfa Palace. Security chiefs informed Sanusi about the decision to enforce a court order halting his reinstatement. However, Sanusi reportedly dismissed the court order, claiming he had not seen it.
During the hour-long discussion, the Emir expressed his stance, asserting that the state government’s actions represented justice in response to past injustices against him. He also indicated skepticism towards the purported court order, referring to it as a “media court order” until personally presented with it.
The meeting underscores the deepening tensions surrounding the Kano Emirate crisis, with legal, political, and security dimensions intertwining in a complex power struggle. As the situation evolves, stakeholders continue to navigate delicate legal and constitutional frameworks amidst a backdrop of heightened uncertainty and unrest.
