Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Major General Buba Edward, the Director of Defence Media Operations, described the abductions as cowardly acts and emphasized the importance of prompt notification to enable swift military intervention.

Major General Edward highlighted that in both the Sokoto and Kaduna abduction cases, the military was not informed beforehand, depriving them of the opportunity to launch quick search-and-rescue operations.

“This is not the time to trade blame, but what I can assure you is that we will not rest until all of these hostages are returned,” Major General Edward affirmed.

He further disclosed that despite operational challenges, the military is actively engaged in efforts to secure the release of the abducted individuals, with support from international partners and available intelligence resources.

The DHQ’s remarks underscore the critical role of timely communication in combating insecurity and preventing such incidents in the future. They also highlight the need for enhanced collaboration between security agencies and local communities to effectively address security threats across Nigeria.
