In the video shared by a Nigerian on social media, the officers were seen slapping, flogging, and kicking some young men they intended to apprehend during a raid in a community within the state.

In response to the incident, the Ebonyi State Police Command issued a statement through its spokesperson, DSP Joshua Ukandu, condemning the officers’ actions as “uncivil.” The statement assured the public that necessary administrative measures were being taken, and an investigation into the matter had been launched to ensure justice and appropriate disciplinary action.

CP Augustina Ogbodo, psc, the Commissioner of Police for Ebonyi State, emphasized zero tolerance for incivility or misconduct by police officers under her leadership. She urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that any officer found culpable would face severe disciplinary measures.

Members of the public were encouraged to report police misconduct to designated channels, including the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) and the Complaints Response Unit (CRU).

The viral video serves as a reminder of the importance of holding law enforcement accountable and ensuring the protection of citizens’ rights.
