EFCC Nabs 19 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Cross River, Akwa Ibom

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of 19 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud across Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the Commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, EFCC operatives apprehended 13 suspects in the Atimbo and Lemna Trailer Park areas of Calabar, Cross River State, while six others were picked up in the Idoro area of Akwa Ibom.

Oyewale explained that the suspects were arrested in coordinated sting operations carried out based on actionable intelligence linking them to cybercrime activities.

During the operations, the EFCC recovered several items, including three luxury vehicles, 31 mobile phones, and five laptop computers.

The spokesperson added that the suspects are currently under investigation and will face prosecution once the investigations are concluded.
