In a statement released by his media adviser, Hakeem Bello, Fashola expressed his disappointment over the rapid dissemination of this baseless information across various social media platforms. He urged security agencies to swiftly take action against those accountable for the dissemination of fabricated news.
Addressing the accusation, Fashola asserted that he had been away from Abuja for an extended period, rendering the claims completely baseless.
He condemned the individuals who propagated these harmful allegations, labeling them as agents seeking to disrupt stability.
“Babatunde Fashola has initiated the process of lodging official complaints regarding the offensive tweets and online reports with the management of the microblogging site, X (formerly known as Twitter), and the National Communications Commission (NCC),” stated Mr. Bello in the statement, which was shared with PREMIUM TIMES via email.
“He implored the relevant security agencies to treat this matter with utmost gravity, as it directly impacts judicial independence.
“The former Minister believes that these allegations might be part of a broader scheme to undermine the judiciary by those with ulterior motives. He emphasizes the importance of exposing the culprits and those backing them, ensuring that they face legal consequences as appropriate.”
Fashola urged the public “to disregard these false allegations and encouraged them to report any individuals involved in spreading such perilous fabrications to the relevant security agencies.”
