Former Labour Party Presidential Candidate Quits Party
According to Ireporter Online, the 2019 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Ameh, has officially resigned his membership from the party.
Ameh submitted his resignation letter to the Labour Party chairman in Ogugu Ward 1, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, stating that his decision came after deep reflection and a personal conviction about what he believes is in the best interest of Nigeria and the future of its democracy.
The former National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) explained that his association with the Labour Party was rooted in shared ideological values and his longstanding relationship with the late former National Chairman of the party, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, whom he described as a major influence during his time in the party.
Reflecting on his political journey, Ameh noted his previous leadership role in the Progressive Peoples Alliance as well as his tenure within IPAC, stressing that he remains committed to Nigeria’s multi-party democratic system and its continued development.
He maintained that his resignation was not motivated by bitterness, financial interest, or personal disagreement, but rather by his conviction that political associations must be guided by trust, integrity, and adherence to agreements and principles.
Ameh expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the Labour Party for the support he received during his time with the party, while also wishing them success in their future political engagements and contributions to national development.
