Full List: Okpebholo Appoints New Edo Muslim Pilgrims Board

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of members of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

The development was announced in a Government Special Announcement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.

According to the announcement, the newly constituted board will be formally inaugurated by Governor Okpebholo on a date that will be communicated by the state government.

Alhaji Musa Uduimo was appointed Chairman, while Alhaji Abdul Aziz Igbinidu, Hajia Usenat Audu Esohe, Alhaji Musa Isiwele, Hajiya Rabi Abiri, Ahmed Evbareke, Mallam Naasir Usman and Sheikh Sirajudeen Muhammed were named as members.

Other members of the board are Mallam Omosa Shittu Musa, Sheikh Abdul-Ali Abdulqadir Momoh, Mallam Ismail Ibrahim, Alhaji Muhammed Otokiti, Alhaji Buhari Aideghese, Mallam Abdullahi Aminu, Hajia Zuliatu Bello Osagie and Adams Inusa Oshiokhamhele.

The list also includes Sanni Muhammad, Mulikat Iyoha Oare, Mallam Uthman Abu, Mallam Hassan Mahadi, Alhaji Prince Isah Momodu, Mallam Mukhtar Abdulkadir, Prince Afe Aliru Momoh, Abdul Rahman Momodu JP and Architect Mamud Oyarelemi.

Abdulkabir M. Eranga was appointed Secretary of the board.

The appointment is expected to provide the administrative structure for the coordination of Muslim pilgrimage activities in the state.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed more than 40 of its personnel over alleged corruption and financial misconduct during the past two and a half years.

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede disclosed this while speaking with media executives and journalists in Abuja.

He said more than five of the dismissed officers were currently facing prosecution, while case files involving other personnel were being prepared for possible legal action.

Olukoyede explained that the disciplinary measures were part of efforts to ensure that EFCC personnel maintain high standards of integrity while carrying out investigations and prosecuting financial crimes.

He said more than 40 staff members had been dismissed over corruption and financial malpractice during his tenure, adding that more than five were already being prosecuted in court.

The EFCC chairman maintained that the commission could not effectively combat corruption if its own officers were involved in corrupt practices.

He also disclosed the introduction of additional measures aimed at strengthening accountability within the agency, including a new policy regulating the acceptance and declaration of gifts by EFCC personnel.

Under the policy, officers will be expected to declare gifts above a specified value, including gifts received from relatives living abroad.

Olukoyede said the commission would determine the categories and monetary thresholds of gifts that personnel could accept, noting that the measure would help officers account for their sources of income and standard of living.
