Gombe Teen Wins International Qur’anic Contest, Secures Free Hajj Journey

Hajara Ibrahim Dan’azumi, a 19-year-old from Gombe State, has earned a significant honor from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) after emerging victorious in the International Qur’anic Competition held in Jordan. Competing in the 18th edition of the esteemed Hashemite Jordan International Qur’anic Competition for Females, organized annually by the Ministry of Endowments, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places of Jordan, Hajara showcased her prowess in the 60 Hizb with Tajwid category. She scored an impressive 99.5%, outshining participants from 39 other nations.

In recognition of her outstanding achievement, NAHCON chairman, Malam Jalal Arabi, conveyed his delight and appreciation to Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya. This announcement came through a statement from the Assistant Director of Public Affairs in the commission on Friday.

During a special reception hosted by the state government in Gombe, Malam Arabi, represented by his Personal Assistant, Usman Nuraini, announced the award of a Hajj seat to Hajara for the year 2024. This gesture aligns with NAHCON’s commitment to rewarding excellence and dedication.

Governor Yahaya, in acknowledgment of Hajara’s remarkable accomplishment, honored her with a generous gift of N5 million. Additionally, he extended a full scholarship package from undergraduate to Ph.D. studies and presented another N5 million grant to her Islamic school, aiming to enhance its educational offerings and student development.
