Hassan Ango Abdullahi, President of the Amana Farmers and Grains Suppliers Association of Nigeria, Shiroro branch, lamented the situation. According to him, food processing companies are opting for cheaper alternatives from countries like Chad and Ghana, a move he describes as harmful to local agriculture.

“Previously, a 100-kilogram bag of beans sold for ₦103,000 and soybeans for ₦105,000. Now, the prices have plummeted to ₦80,000,” Abdullahi revealed.

Farmers are calling for government intervention to protect the agricultural sector and ensure fair pricing mechanisms that prioritize local producers while balancing consumer needs.
