“I Refused To Join A Lying Gang: Shan George Shares Lost Investment Story”
Nollywood actress Shan George has stated unequivocally that she will not compromise her integrity by lying or faking success. The actress shared a personal experience involving a wealthy Nigerian businessman, revealing how her honesty about the cost of a movie production led to a missed investment opportunity.
Shan George recounted that over a decade ago, she invited the businessman to her movie premiere and disclosed that her production cost ₦6 million. When she asked if he would invest in her next film, he reportedly dismissed her. Efforts to reach him afterward were unsuccessful.
Years later, she learned that the businessman publicly claimed he “doesn’t take any little person seriously in business,” which clarified his earlier dismissal. Reflecting on the experience, Shan emphasized that telling the truth may sometimes delay success, but she refuses to join “the lying gang” or fake achievements for personal gain.
Highlighting her growth since then, Shan noted that she now produces films with budgets exceeding $100 million, questioning whether honesty is still undervalued in business circles.
