Popular Nigerian dancer, Jane Mena, has revealed that her marriage faced a major challenge in 2019 due to a fallout with her husband over a friend.

Sharing the story via Instagram, Jane recounted how her refusal to end a friendship—despite her husband’s warning—nearly led to their divorce.

According to her, the disagreement escalated to the point where her husband contacted a lawyer to initiate divorce proceedings. However, upon hearing the hefty legal fee, he hesitated and tried to negotiate a discount. Jane jokingly offered to cover the entire bill herself to speed up the process.

Looking back, she admitted that the friend eventually betrayed her, leaving her to regret not taking her husband’s advice seriously.

“I keep my life so private that no one knew this. Plies and I had a serious issue in our first year of marriage in 2019. He told me to cut off a certain friend, and I refused. Things got so bad he called his lawyer to file for divorce. The lawyer billed him heavily and he started begging for a discount. I screamed from the background, ‘Lawyer, please send your account details—I’ll pay everything!’
