Shaibu Criticizes Governor Obaseki’s Leadership

The ongoing tensions between Governor Godwin Obaseki and his recently reinstated deputy, Philip Shaibu, show no signs of abating. Shaibu, in a recent statement, criticized Obaseki for being insensitive to the needs of the people of Edo State. Addressing journalists during the 2nd Plenary of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) in Auchi, Shaibu urged religious leaders to be cautious when bestowing titles on leaders, ensuring they live up to the responsibilities those titles demand. He echoed sentiments from Rev. Fr. Gabriel Dunia, who highlighted the disconnect between Nigeria’s leaders and the people they are meant to serve.

Tinubu Appoints New Heads for NIA and DSS

President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS). Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed will head the NIA, bringing years of experience from his diplomatic career, including roles in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and Libya. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, the new DSS Director-General, has also had an extensive career within the DSS, serving in various states such as Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.
