Speaking at the 2025 Annual Inter-faith Service for State Workers, attended by political appointees, community leaders, and traditional rulers, Makinde addressed the ongoing security challenges in the state. He emphasized that 2024 had been a difficult year with incidents such as fire outbreaks, armed robberies, and kidnappings. However, he vowed to intensify efforts in 2025 to address these issues.

During a security briefing earlier that day, the governor confirmed reports of a special operation underway to combat the relocation of criminals from the northwest. He recounted a personal experience, noting that bandits had established camps just 1.5 kilometers from where he was staying in Fashola.

Makinde commended the efforts of security agencies in tackling crime and urged traditional rulers and community leaders to report any suspicious activities to authorities. He reassured the public that his administration would not rest until every part of Oyo State is free from criminal activity.

Additionally, the governor reiterated his commitment to prosecuting those involved in the Ibadan stampede, stressing that the rule of law would be upheld.
