Infrastructure Development And Urban Renewal Manifesto

Infrastructure Development And Urban Renewal ManifestoThe vision is to transform Edo State into a model of modern infrastructure and urban development, where residents and businesses thrive in a safe, efficient, and sustainable environment. The expected results include modernized infrastructure networks, improved transportation system and revitalized urban areas.
The incumbent administration, led by Governor Godwin Obaseki, has neglected critical infrastructure projects, leaving them abandoned and incomplete. This negligence has hindered the state’s progress and affected the quality of life for citizens, which has ranked Edo State as the highest state with NDDC abandoned projects.
The timeline for implementation includes launching infrastructure projects and urban renewal initiatives in the first year, and prioritizing the completion of key projects and ensuring sustainable maintenance and management of infrastructure assets in the second to fourth year
The Obaseki-led administration has abandoned several key projects, including the Benin-Abraka Road project, Ekehuan-Ugbiyokho Road project, Benin Stormwater Project, Otor Idumozar and Oseghale Market Road, Uwenlodia Road, Ekpoma, Momodu/Olele Roads Irrua, F. O. Momoh Road, Ewu, Idunwele – Eguare Road, Ewu, G2 Road, Ekpoma, Iyare Road, Ekpoma, Iruekpen roundabout, Iruekpen, SK Foam Road, Ekpoma, Omokhodion Road, Ekpoma, Isiebhelua Street, Ekpoma, Osebor Road, Ekpoma, Dova Road, Ekpoma, and Aburimen Road, Ekpoma.
To achieve this vision, there will be collaboration with federal agencies and international partners to secure funding and expertise, establishment of a dedicated infrastructure development agency to oversee projects, engagement with local communities and stakeholders to ensure inclusive and sustainable development, and prioritization of maintenance and management of infrastructure assets to ensure long-term sustainability.
Regular progress reports and updates will be made public. Independent monitoring and evaluation of projects will be conducted to ensure transparency and accountability in funding and procurement processes. As governor and deputy governor, Sen. Monday Okpehbolo and Hon. Dennis Idahosa are committed to transforming Edo State’s infrastructure and urban landscape, prioritizing completion of key projects abandoned by Gov. Obaseki’s administration, ensuring sustainable maintenance and management of infrastructure assets, and engaging with local communities to ensure inclusive and sustainable development. Together, let’s build a modern and prosperous Edo State!
