The registration for Direct Entry examinations is slated to kick off on February 28, 2024.
In February 2023, JAMB issued an advisory aimed at guiding candidates seeking Direct Entry admissions for the 2023/2024 academic session, particularly to combat the use of unacceptable or forged A-level certificates/qualifications for admission.
Recently, JAMB urged candidates to promptly contact their former institutions for certificate verification, emphasizing its refusal to accept students with unverified credentials.
JAMB also disclosed its communication with tertiary institutions regarding certificate verification, noting positive responses from some, while others remained unresponsive.
A JAMB memo to select institutions in Abuja read: “Despite efforts to verify claimed qualifications, 2,795 certificates from 155 institutions remain unverified, with some institutions partially or entirely unresponsive.”
Among the institutions are Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo; College of Health Technology, Plateau; College of Education, Lafiagi, Kwara state; College of Education, Oju, Benue state, among others.
Previously, JAMB highlighted measures to curb fraudulent practices, including NIPEDS reaching out to tertiary institutions for A-level certificate verification.
“While many institutions have responded and verified their students’ certificates, NIPEDS awaits responses from others,” the statement said.
“In essence, candidates with certificates from non-responsive institutions will not be considered for admission until verification is completed.”
