JAMB Criticizes Low-Turnout Of DE Candidates At Extra-Registration Points (Details)
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has stated that establishing additional registration points for 2024 Direct Entry (DE) candidates was largely unnecessary due to the low turnout.
JAMB had set up extra registration points beyond the Professional Registration Centres (PRCs) in Lagos, Kwara, Osun, and Ogun States to accommodate DE candidates. However, according to a statement by JAMB spokesman Dr. Fabian Benjamin on Wednesday, the turnout at these additional centres was minimal.
Benjamin noted that the extra centres, such as JKK Lagos, JAMB PRC Ikoyi, and Ogba in Ikeja, Lagos, reported a low number of candidates, with some centres seeing fewer than ten candidates per day despite having the capacity to handle over 100 daily. Most prospective DE candidates have already completed their registrations.
Despite the low turnout, JAMB urges any remaining eligible candidates to register before the deadline, as no further extensions will be granted. The extra registration points will remain open until Monday, June 17, 2024, and no appeals for additional time will be entertained.
Additionally, candidates scheduled for the 2024 Supplementary UTME should note that the exams will now be held on both Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22, 2024.
