The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has clarified that the final decision regarding Fuji music star Wasiu Ayinde (KWAM1) over his recent airport altercation rests with the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP). This follows the musician’s public apology after a widely circulated video showed him in a heated confrontation with ValueJet Airline officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Reports indicate that the NCAA has already forwarded a petition to the AGF and IGP, seeking further investigation and possible prosecution. The aviation regulator maintains that while KWAM1 has expressed remorse, the matter remains under legal review.

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo confirmed receiving the apology but stated that authorities are yet to deliberate on the next steps. Meanwhile, the police are yet to officially confirm receipt of the petition, as repeated inquiries to the Force Public Relations Officer remained unanswered at press time.

In his apology, KWAM1 denied allegations that he was under the influence of alcohol, attributing his actions to a medical condition requiring constant hydration. He emphasized his long-standing commitment to promoting Nigeria’s image globally and expressed regret over the incident.

The controversy has sparked nationwide debate, with many questioning aviation security protocols, while others demand accountability for the musician’s actions.
