According to Ireporter Online, Nollywood actress Evan Okoro has publicly challenged fellow actress Ekene Umenwa over allegations linking her to the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). The controversy emerged after Evan’s name reportedly appeared on a list discussed by Ekene in a private conversation with a UK-based Nigerian nurse, Adanma Waller. The list allegedly included the names of actors purportedly living with various health conditions, including HIV.

In a video shared on her Instagram page on February 22, 2026, Evan expressed shock at seeing her name associated with the disease. She questioned whether Ekene had actually made the statement or if it was a fabricated claim designed to create conflict. Evan recalled that she had previously defended Ekene when the matter first surfaced and urged the public to await Ekene’s side of the story.

The actress revealed that the rumor has had a profound impact on her family, particularly her mother, who was distressed by the allegations. Evan warned that if Ekene had indeed made the claim, there would be consequences, and if the story was falsified, those responsible would also be held accountable. She added that the situation has caused emotional pain and described the rumor as deeply hurtful.
