My Career Is On The Line – Davido Spills Why He Walked Away From Politics
According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian music sensation Davido has revealed that he has stepped back from political ambitions, citing concerns about the challenges faced by celebrities entering the political arena.
The Afrobeats star made the disclosure on April 5, 2026, during a livestream session on Twitch with streamer Davrel. He reflected on his previous interest in partisan politics and explained how his perspective has changed over time.
Davido noted that while he once seriously considered a political career, observing the experiences of other entertainers who pursued similar paths influenced his decision. Many, he said, did not achieve the success they anticipated, prompting him to reconsider.
“Before, I wanted to go into politics, but now I see it differently. All my years of goodwill, my name, my career, the hard work and fan base we have built—it is tricky. The superstars who went into politics haven’t had smooth transitions. I feel like if you are a politician, that is your business,” Davido stated.
