Dr. Iliyasu Gashinbaki, Pioneer President and Chairman Governing Council, revealed this during a meeting with the leadership of the national Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Abuja. The institute plans to collaborate with IPAC to authenticate documents of aspirants even before the primary elections in the 2027 general elections.
Gashinbaki emphasized the importance of ensuring electoral integrity, stating, “Politics is too important to be left in the hands of politicians.” He cited instances where the use of forensic tools could have prevented electoral irregularities and saved the country from embarrassment.
The institute aims to establish two critical laboratories for the 2027 general elections to verify the authenticity of documents submitted by politicians, aiming to prevent the submission of dubious or forged documents. This initiative is crucial, considering past incidents involving forged certificates, such as the case in Bayelsa, which resulted in the nullification of an elected governor’s election.
Alhaji Yusuf Dantalle, Chairman of IPAC and National Chairman of Allied People’s Movement (APM), expressed support for the partnership, highlighting the need for collective efforts to address systemic issues in Nigeria’s electoral process.
