All You Need To Know About The New UEFA Champions League Format
UEFA announced a new format for the Champions League which will start in 2024-2025 season.
The announcement came during the European super league chaos.
A breakdown of the new format is given below:
Group Stage to be replaced by 36-team league.
Two slots will be for clubs with the highest UEFA coefficient who miss out on UCL qualification.
Every team will play 10 games. Fixtures will be determined bt a seeding system based on historic performance.
Top eight sides in the league phase will qualify automatically for the knockout stage. Teams placed between 9th and 24th will enter a play-off round.
The number of matches in the UCL increases from 125 to 225.
