Nigerian Navy Thwarts Smuggling Attempt, Apprehends Suspects In Badagry

In a statement posted on its verified Facebook page, the Navy reported, “In a bold anti-smuggling operation, the Forward Operating Base BADAGRY of the Nigerian Navy intercepted and seized a vehicle loaded with various smuggled items at Ajido, Badagry, Lagos State.”

The statement detailed that upon interception, the suspects made an attempt to flee, leading to a high-speed pursuit. Despite damaging their vehicle in the process, the Navy personnel managed to apprehend them.

The seized items included significant quantities of contraband goods such as rice, vegetable oil, and other prohibited items.

The statement further indicated that the detained suspects are currently held at the Navy’s facility and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.

“The Nigerian Navy remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders and economy, and this successful operation underscores their dedication and vigilance.

“The Navy’s continuous efforts have notably curtailed smuggling activities in the region, and they persist in their tireless endeavors to ensure the safety and security of all citizens,” the statement concluded.
