Ambassador Okey Emuchay, the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, shared insights in Umuahia, emphasizing that the meeting delved into “issues of mutual interest.” Describing it as both symbolic and pivotal, Emuchay expressed satisfaction with the fruitful deliberations.

While specific details of the discussion were not disclosed by Emuchay, he hinted that the outcomes would soon bring benefits to the Ndigbo community.

Emuchay mentioned, “Discussions revolved around issues of mutual interest. The President-General conveyed to Chief Obasanjo the idea that Nigeria should commemorate him with monuments for the sacrifices he has made. He recalled Obasanjo’s role in concluding the civil war with the mantra of ‘no victor, no vanquished,’ managing significant external debts, and revitalizing the economy during his presidency.”

Accompanying the former President was Otunba Oyewole Fasawe, while notable figures from the Igbo leadership and Ohanaeze were present, including Ambassador Emuchay, former Minister for Aviation Amb Kema Chikwe, and Bishop Sunday Onuoha. Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu and Chief Tony Ukasanya were also among the distinguished personalities at the meeting.
