The Labour Party in Edo State is currently positioned as a major contender in the upcoming gubernatorial election, a transformation primarily attributed to the dynamic involvement of Olumide Akpata in the race. His entrance into the political arena doesn’t merely signify an addition to the numbers or an attempt at fleeting popularity; rather, it stands as a genuine effort to reshape the fortunes of the party within the state.

Olumide Akpata’s generous contribution of 21 Sienna mini-vans and a new 2023 model Toyota Hiace to the party guaranteed that each Local Government division possesses at least one Sienna van. Moreover, the State secretariat now proudly showcases a brand-new Toyota Hiace.
His unwavering support persisted, exemplified by the addition of another Sienna van on New Year’s Day, showcasing his remarkable and ongoing commitment. Throughout the history of politics in our region, dating back to ancient times, politicians have consistently prioritized advancing their personal ambitions over the welfare of their political party platforms.
Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata has become a model for party development, bringing a revitalizing and constructive perspective to the political scene.He is actively building a strong and long-lasting Labour Party presence in Edo State.
In October 2023, he began a comprehensive tour of the state’s 18 local governments, meeting with Labour party executives at the state and local government levels to get familiar with the party at the local and ward levels, as well as to assess the needs of these party wards and their individual peculiarities.
He recognizes that a party’s weakness hampers its ability to ensure success. With the party’s interest in mind, he addressed three crucial and relevant issues.

He made a recent contribution of N3 million towards the human capacity training in Edo South senatorial district, undoubtedly serving as a catalyst for fostering independent growth among party members.
He’s currently in the process of providing 26,000 Labour party-branded chairs and 230 Public Address systems for the party throughout the local government areas. This profound dedication speaks volumes about his sincerity of purpose.
