According to a statement from the NAF director of public relations and information (DOPRI), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Edward Gabkwet, the policy aligns seamlessly with a key aspect of the CAS Command Philosophy, emphasizing the enhancement of welfare and infrastructural renewal to maintain a highly motivated force.

While acknowledging the coverage provided by various insurance policies managed by the Ministry of Defence and the NAF Investment Limited for all NAF personnel, the statement noted that these policies fall short in adequately addressing specific hazards and challenges faced in the line of duty. Recognizing this gap, there was a compelling need to reassess and implement a specialized insurance scheme tailored to address these hazards.

During the agreement signing ceremony with the approved insurance broker, KBC Insurance Brokers Limited, held at NAF Headquarters on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, Air Marshal Abubakar highlighted that the GPAIP aims to motivate NAF personnel by assuring them of adequate care in the event of disability or death resulting from military operations or any form of accident.
