Come Out And Say It” — Pete Edochie Dares Nollywood Actors To Match His Level

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has sparked reactions after declaring that he considers himself bigger than his colleagues in the Nigerian film industry and challenging anyone who believes they are on the same level to publicly state so.

According to Ireporter Online, Edochie made the remarks while featuring on comedian Isbae U’s online programme, Curiosity Made Me Ask, where he was asked to identify his favourite actor.

Rather than single out a colleague, the veteran actor said he could not choose one because, in his view, he was bigger than all of them.

His comments come amid previous remarks by fellow Nollywood actor Yemi Solade, who claimed that he began acting before Edochie despite the latter being older.

Addressing claims from individuals who have described themselves as more senior or experienced than him in the industry, Edochie said he had chosen not to engage in public arguments over such assertions.

“People have been writing that they are older than me in the industry, but I don’t respond,” he said.

He added, “Whoever said they are of the same level with me should come out and say it.”

The veteran actor also reacted to his frequent description as a legend in Nollywood, saying he was not certain about how people defined the term but appreciated the recognition and honour associated with it.

“I don’t know the definition of people’s legend, but I’m glad to be celebrated,” Edochie said.

Edochie further disclosed that he had already established himself professionally before venturing into acting. He explained that he eventually retired from his previous career as a Director of Programmes before dedicating himself to the movie industry.

His latest comments have continued to generate conversations about seniority, experience and status among veteran actors in Nollywood.
