Organised Labour Shuts Down NSITF Over Alleged N2.1 Billion Unremitted Salary Taxes

The headquarters of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) faced closure as Organised Labour protested the alleged non-remittance of N2.1 billion in consequential taxes deducted from workers’ salaries. Carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, the workers converged on NSITF’s headquarters, calling for the immediate removal of Managing Director Maureen Alagoa. They also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene and urged the EFCC to investigate their claims.

Osifo emphasized that the protest and shutdown followed failed attempts by ASSBIFE leadership to resolve the issue with NSITF management. Despite the allegations, both the MD/CEO of NSITF and spokesperson Godson Nwachukwu are yet to respond.
