Outrage Over Petrol Price Surge: NNPC’s New Rates Leave Nigerians In DespairAs Nigerians express their frustration over the recent fuel price increase implemented by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited,  petrol scarcity, fuel price hikes, and the reactions from both the government and citizens. leaders from organized labor, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), are currently conducting a joint National Executive Council (NEC) meeting at Labour House in Abuja.

This meeting follows discussions between labor leaders and the Federal Government regarding the petrol price increase.

According to Vanguard, the NEC meeting will address the outcomes of the prior meeting held at the Secretary to the Government of the Federation’s office, which focused on issues such as the fuel price hike, minimum wage adjustments, the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles, and fueling points.

Notable government representatives at the earlier meeting included Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser; Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Labour Minister; Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy; Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Information Minister; Heineken Lokpobiri, Petroleum Minister of State; Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas); and officials from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited.

Attending the joint Organised Labour meeting are NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero, Deputy President Kabiru Ado Sani, General Secretary Comrade Emma Ugboaja, TUC Deputy President Dr. Tommy Etim Okon, Secretary General Nuhu Toro, and the President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), who also serves as a Deputy President of the NLC. Other attendees include Benjamin Anthony, Vice President of the NLC, and Comrade Deborah Yusuf, Deputy Women Leader of the NLC.
