For the first time in decades, Esanland has the chance to see one of its own rise to the governorship. However, the PDP has chosen to back a candidate who is, by all accounts, a stranger to his own roots.

Pablo Asue Ighodalo, despite his so-called achievements, has shown a complete lack of connection and commitment to the people of Esanland.

A Stranger Among His Own:
Asue Ighodalo’s detachment from Esanland is not just troubling—it is disqualifying. How can the people of Esan trust someone to govern the entire state when he has not even cared to uplift his own community? While Esanland has languished without basic infrastructure like a Sterling Bank branch, Ighodalo has done nothing to address these needs.

His law firm, which could have provided opportunities and support for Esan professionals, doesn’t even have a presence in the region.

Out of Touch with Esan Culture and Tradition:
At 66 years old, Ighodalo has shown no understanding of Esan culture, language, or traditions. He is a stranger not only to the people of Ewohimi, his hometown, but to the entire Esanland. His children are equally disconnected, unable to speak the language or identify with the community. This level of disconnection is alarming, especially when the very essence of leadership is rooted in understanding and serving one’s people.

Why Waste This Opportunity on a Stranger?

Esanland has the unique chance to rally behind a candidate who understands the struggles, dreams, and aspirations of the people—a local homeboy who has lived their realities and is committed to bringing positive change. Supporting Asue Ighodalo would be squandering this opportunity on someone who has done nothing to earn the trust or support of his own people.

The people of Esanland must recognize the importance of this moment. Voting for Ighodalo is akin to electing a stranger who has no vested interest in the future of Esanland.
