Police Disburse ₦37.3m to Families of Fallen Officers in Abuja
At least 39 families of deceased police officers from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command have received welfare cheques totaling ₦37,388,829.25.
The cheques were presented Tuesday at the FCT Police Command headquarters, Abuja, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
The disbursement was made under three key schemes:
-
Group Life Assurance
-
Nigeria Police Force Welfare Insurance Scheme
-
Group Personal Accident Cover
According to the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the gesture represents both financial support and a tribute to the sacrifices of the fallen officers.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Adewale Ajao, reaffirmed the IG’s commitment to a compassionate and responsive welfare system, emphasizing that the support aims to boost morale and strengthen the sense of belonging within the force.
“These cheques represent more than financial support—they are a symbol of our respect and remembrance,” Ajao said.
The event was attended by senior police officers, insurance partners, and emotional family members, many of whom expressed gratitude.
