Political Earthquake: Shehu Sani Warns North’s Plot To Unseat Tinubu Could Shatter Nigeria

Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has issued a stern warning to Northern leaders against their plans to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 Presidential elections. In an interview with Arise Television, monitored by DAILY POST, Sani cautioned that such a move could jeopardize Nigeria’s unity.

Sani urged Northern leaders to support and engage with the policies and programs of the Tinubu administration that benefit the Northern region, rather than seeking to reclaim political power. He highlighted the ongoing challenges of insecurity and poverty in Northern Nigeria, advocating for a focus on these issues instead.

“There is evidence of rallying and regrouping of political forces from the North, attempting to use former President Buhari as a focal point to oust the government of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu,” Sani explained. He warned that portraying the Tinubu administration as undermining the North or failing to fulfill campaign promises could lead to serious national instability.

Sani emphasized that during Buhari’s eight-year tenure, no significant Southern politician sought to remove him from office. He stressed the importance of prioritizing national unity over regional power struggles, noting that Nigeria remains a fragile nation.

“What if Southern politicians decide to unite and take a similar stance? It could lead to the disintegration of Nigeria,” Sani cautioned. He called on Northern leaders to set aside personal ambitions for the 2027 elections and focus on the country’s collective future.

Sani also urged the Tinubu administration to implement restructuring, seeing it as a systemic opportunity for Nigerians to address underdevelopment issues and strengthen national cohesion.
