Read How Gunmen Invaded Imo Police Headquarters Again, Slaughtered 5 Police Officers
Few days after combined security agencies hit some Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) militiamen including their commander, unknown gunmen on Monday struck Ehime Mbano Police divisional headquarters in Imo state and killed five police officers.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Orlando Ikokwu, the police station was not razed in the attack.
The PPRO also confirmed that eight people were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Owerri after another attack around Orji part of Owerri North local government area.
The men were said to be trailing an unmarked vehicle, after which they shot sporadically to escape and in the process got people injured.
In the past few weeks, there has been intense insecurity in the Southeast with attacks mostly on police and other security agencies and operatives.
States including Imo, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi and Abia have witnessed similar attacks.
As a result, prison inmates at Owerri correctional centre escaped and most of them are still at large after gunmen struck and let them loose.
