Regina Daniels Stands By Phyna Amid Backlash Over Clubbing After Sister’s Death

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has risen in defence of Big Brother Naija “Level Up” winner, Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, after a video of the reality star at a nightclub sparked backlash online.

According to Ireporter Online, Regina posted a video on Instagram showing herself, Phyna, and others dancing and having fun. The post came shortly after another clip of Phyna at a club circulated, prompting criticism from some social media users who accused her of insensitivity following the recent loss of her sister.

One Instagram user faulted Phyna’s behaviour, referencing her mourning period and her recent demand for $80 million in compensation from the Dangote Group over her sister’s death. In response, Regina defended Phyna, explaining that the reality star grieves privately but chooses to express herself differently when among friends.

Meanwhile, Phyna has publicly accused the Dangote Group of negligence in handling her late sister Ruth’s case. She claimed that despite public assurances, the company only covered bills at Lagoon Hospital while her family bore other expenses, including transfer, mortuary, and burial costs. According to her, several attempts to reach the company on the burial day were ignored, forcing her family to settle outstanding payments.

Phyna further alleged that the company later sent a letter to her father to acknowledge financial support for the burial, which she described as misleading and disrespectful. She also raised concerns over the welfare of Ruth’s children, stating that no assistance has been offered to them since their mother’s passing.
