Efforts to resolve the prolonged political differences between the camp of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and that of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara have reportedly recorded significant progress.

According to Ireporter Online, members of a reconciliation committee led by former Rivers State governorship aspirant Magnus Abe met with Governor Fubara at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

The latest meeting marked the second time the committee had held discussions with the governor within two weeks as part of efforts to restore political harmony in the state.

The committee, operating under the Rainbow Coalition, assured stakeholders that previous political disagreements would not result in victimisation or discrimination against any individual as the reconciliation process continues.

Speaking after the meeting, the committee chairman said significant progress had been achieved and expressed optimism that the renewed engagement would be welcomed by residents of the state.

Abe said the discussions represented a major shift in the political atmosphere of Rivers State and expressed confidence that the peace being pursued by stakeholders was gradually becoming a reality.

Also speaking, the South-South zonal Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Samuel Nwanosike, commended Governor Fubara for welcoming the delegation and allowing the discussions to take place in a spirit of brotherhood.
